Overview
Applies to
Viozi 1.0. For NAS (Synology, QNAP) and the SMB, WebDAV, FTP, SFTP, NFS, S3 and UPnP/DLNA types.
Before you start
- The matching file service is enabled on the NAS or computer (for example SMB sharing or WebDAV).
- Have the server address (IP, domain or .local host name), user name and password ready. SFTP can also use an SSH key.
- For a LAN connection, the device and NAS are on the same network.
Where to find it
Settings → Library → Media Sources → + (Add Source) at the top right → Select Source Type. Devices found automatically on your local network appear under Discovered Devices.
Steps
- Choose a type, for example SMB/CIFS or Synology.
- Enter the server address. Usually the address alone is enough; the port and encryption are worked out automatically.
- Enter the user name and password. SMB can use Guest access, and WebDAV and FTP also allow anonymous access (depending on the server).
- If two-step verification is on for the Synology account, you'll be asked to Enter OTP Code (the 6 digits from your authenticator app) when connecting. You can choose to remember the device so the code is skipped next time. For Synology you can also enter just a QuickConnect ID; Viozi automatically chooses direct access, Smart DNS or relay.
- Tap Connect & Select Directories, select the folders with your videos and tap Done. Scanning starts automatically.
LAN and public addresses
- In the connection settings you can fill in both LAN Address and Public Address or Reverse Proxy URL. Viozi picks the connection that works on the current network and shows LAN, Public Address and so on in the source details.
- If only a LAN address is set, you'll see "Not reachable on this network" when you're away from home. Edit the source and add a public address.
- Use an encrypted connection (https) for public addresses. With a domain name the port is usually 443 or 80.
Certificate prompts
- A self-signed certificate shows "SSL Certificate Error" with the certificate and its SHA-256 fingerprint. Tap Trust only if you are sure it is your own server. Viozi then pins this certificate; if it changes you'll see "Server Certificate Changed".
- Trusted domains can be managed in Settings → Trusted Domains.
Expected result
The source appears in the Media Sources list with the status "Scanning…". When scanning finishes, the videos appear in Library.
If something goes wrong
See A source won't connect, sign-in fails or no videos are found. Tap Source Diagnostics in the source's menu to check the address, connection, credentials and folder access step by step.
