Add and manage music sources: supported types, where to add them, and everyday actions

Where to start

iPhone, iPad: Settings › Manage Sources (in the Library group), then tap + (Add Source) in the top-right corner. If you have no sources yet, the page shows "No Music Sources".
Mac: add and manage sources in the Sources section of the sidebar.

On the Select Source Type screen, devices found on your local network are listed first (Scanning local network...); tapping one pre-fills its address. Apple Music comes next, followed by all source types grouped by category.

Notes:

Ugreen and fnOS are not in the add list in this version (marked "Awaiting public API · Not yet available" in the source code). Music on an fnOS NAS can be connected through Feiniu Music or a general protocol such as SMB or WebDAV.
115 Drive shows the subtitle "115 Open Platform · Coming soon": you need your own developer app credentials from the 115 Open Platform to try it.
You can add as many sources as you like; they are merged into one library.

Adding a source (general steps)

Choose a type and enter the Name and server address. Leave the port blank and Primuse works it out when you save.
Fill in Credentials: user name, password, API key or token, depending on the type. If needed, set the port, path or encryption under Advanced.
When you save, Primuse tests the connection first. If it fails, the reason is shown (for example "No response in time" or "The encrypted handshake failed"), and you can choose Change Address or Save anyway.
For file-based sources (NAS, protocols, cloud drives), next choose the folders to scan (Scan Directories: Connect and select directories to scan for music files) and tap Done to start scanning. Media servers sync their library right after you sign in.

Actions in the source list

Action	What it does
Scan / Resume Scan	Reads changes in your folders; continues where an interrupted scan stopped
Connect & Select Directories / Manage Directories	Connects and selects or changes the folders to scan
Check	Checks the address, credentials, path and network one by one and suggests fixes
Sign In Again	Signs in again after a sign-in has expired
Edit Source	Changes the name, address, credentials and advanced options

A deleted source first goes to Settings › Recently Deleted (in the Library group), where you can restore it.

Audiobooks and podcasts

Jellyfin, Emby, Plex, Navidrome, Audiobookshelf, Ting Reader: after adding the source, choose Edit Source and, under Libraries, set each library to Music, Audiobooks or Don't Sync. Choose what each library on the server holds. Audiobook libraries go to the shelf and use the book player; libraries you don't sync are left out of the next scan.
Other sources: in a song's menu choose Mark as Audiobook, Mark as Podcast or Mark as Music. You can select several songs at once.
Sources that had Everything Here Is Audiobooks turned on in earlier versions still show this switch when you edit them: All songs from this source go to the audiobook shelf and use the book player. Single items can still be marked as music.
