Library and metadata

Every film and episode is recognized from file names, folders and NFO files, with posters, synopses, cast and ratings filled in.

  • Episodes it understands

S01E01, 1x01, Chinese episode numbering, EP01 and anime-style “- 03” are all recognized; specials go to season 0, samples and trash folders stay out.

  • TMDB and NFO

Posters, stills, synopses, cast and episode details from TMDB; reads NFO files written by Kodi, tinyMediaManager and Jellyfin, with optional write-back.

  • Ratings and quality badges

Ratings from TMDB, IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes, Metacritic and Douban; details show 4K, Dolby Vision, HDR10, Atmos and channel layout.

  • A home screen you arrange

Continue watching, recently added, top rated, favorites, live TV and rows by genre, list or source — reorder, toggle and restyle each row.

  • Versions merged

Several versions of a film become one entry with a version picker; search results are grouped by films, shows, episodes and channels.

  • Offline downloads

Download films to your device and watch without a connection.

Plays what you have

MP4, MOV and HLS go straight to the system player; MKV, TS, AVI, WebM and more are remuxed live with FFmpeg, and Blu-ray folders play the main feature from the disc's playlists.

  • Dolby Vision and HDR

HEVC, HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision 5 / 8 pass through untouched; Dolby Vision P7 is rewritten as P8.1, and TrueHD and DTS become lossless FLAC.

  • Blu-ray folders and disc menus

BDMV folders play the main feature across segments with chapters; HDMV menus work as on the disc, and studio logos and warnings can be skipped.

  • AirPlay and DLNA

Even remuxed films AirPlay to Apple TV (shared on the local network only while casting); iPhone, iPad and Mac can also act as DLNA receivers.

  • Intros and credits skipped

Uses chapters and server markers, and without them compares audio fingerprints across a season to find each episode's intro and credits.

  • Subtitles

Matching SRT, ASS and WebVTT files load automatically with GBK and Big5 detection; ASS keeps its styling; OpenSubtitles search and system translation for bilingual subtitles.

  • A player you can tailor

Choose the control bar buttons, their size, the accent color, subtitle style and gestures, with a live preview of the real player.

The Viozi engine

Turn it on in Settings and MKV, TS and other files skip remuxing: Viozi's own engine demuxes them for the system decoders, falling back to remuxing whenever it has to.

01

Dolby and Atmos on the native path

Dolby Vision P5 / P8 and E-AC-3 Atmos use the system's native output, TrueHD and DTS decode to multichannel PCM, and MPEG‑2, VC‑1, VP9, 10-bit H.264 and ProRes are decoded by FFmpeg directly.

Frequently asked questions

Which devices does Viozi support?

iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV. iPhone, iPad and Mac share one app; Apple TV has its own.

Do I have to copy my films to the device?

No. Viozi streams straight from NAS, network shares, media servers and cloud drives, reading only what it plays; offline downloads are optional.

What about formats the system cannot play?

MKV, TS, AVI, WebM and others are remuxed live; older codecs such as MPEG‑2, VC‑1 and VP9 are decoded in software, or directly by the Viozi engine.

Is my library uploaded anywhere?

No. The library lives on your devices and only syncs to your own iCloud when you turn sync on; metadata lookups send titles and years to services such as TMDB.
