Searching in the app
Open Search and type a keyword. The search field covers: Songs, artists, albums & lyrics in your library. Results are grouped:

With an empty library you see "No Music Yet": Add a music source and scan to start searching
Limiting the scope
When searching from a folder, playlist or similar page, you can search only the current scope (Current Scope; folders Includes subfolders) or switch back to Global Search.
Apple Music results
After adding an Apple Music source, switch between All, Local and Apple Music. Searching the Apple Music catalog needs an active subscription; when it's off you see "Apple Music · Catalog search is off". See Use Apple Music in Primuse.
Smart extra results
If you turn on Semantic library search in Settings › Intelligence and allow sending search content, search also shows Intelligent supplemental results, finding related songs by meaning. If it fails you see "Intelligent search failed. Regular search results are unaffected.". The Intelligence entry only appears in regions where the service is offered; see Smart features: built-in AI, your own AI service, data permissions and available features.
System search (Spotlight)
Primuse adds the songs, albums, artists and playlists in your library to system search. Check the status in Settings › Siri & Shortcuts › Index Progress:
- "Building…": being built; you can tap Build Now. Stay on this page while it builds; after you leave, it continues in the background.
- Paused while the device is hot or Low Power Mode is on; it continues afterwards.
- "The index is up to date.": the index is up to date.
- "Index results are awaiting confirmation from the system.": Primuse has submitted it and is waiting for the system.
- With more than 20,000 songs, only the 20,000 most recently played, liked and newest songs are indexed.
Show Artwork in Results: Shows cover art next to songs and albums found in Spotlight. Only covers already saved on this device are used and nothing is downloaded for this, so a server song whose cover the app hasn’t shown yet keeps the default icon. Turn this off to show only the default icon; the index is smaller and builds faster.
Common problems

| A song you just added doesn't show up | First make sure the scan has finished and the song appears in your library |
| Spotlight can't find it | Check the index progress; the system can take a while to return new results. With a very large library only some songs are included |
| Spotlight shows a default icon | The artwork hasn't been saved on the device yet; it's added after the song has been shown in the app |
