功能說明
Before you start
- You have added at least one music source and chosen folders under Scan Directories (Connect and select directories to scan for music files). See Add and manage music sources: supported types, where to add them, and everyday actions.
- Sources that need a verification code must be signed in first; otherwise you see "Please connect first (OTP required)".
First scan and later refreshes
- First scan: goes through all selected folders and builds the song index. While scanning, Primuse shows "Scanning music files..."; You can leave this page; scanning continues in the background.
- Later refreshes: where the source supports it, Primuse reads only what changed since last time, which is much faster than a full pass.
- Deep Scan: in Manage Sources, touch and hold a source and choose Deep Scan to go through all folders again. Use it when you suspect missing songs or after changing many files or the folder structure.
- To refresh just one folder, choose Rescan This Folder on that folder in the library's folder view.
While a media server is scanning its own library, Primuse shows "Server is scanning its library; will continue when it finishes..." and continues automatically when it finishes.
Fewer songs after a scan
If a scan finds many fewer songs than last time, Primuse doesn't remove them right away. Instead it shows: "This scan found N fewer songs than last time; a drive or shared folder may not be mounted right now. They are kept in case, and removed if M more full scans still don’t find them." This prevents your library from being emptied when a drive or shared folder is temporarily not mounted. Once you're sure the files were really deleted, a few more scans will remove them.
Loading song details
When scanning a cloud drive, Primuse reads file names first and fills in artist, album, artwork and duration later in batches. The related options are in Settings › Storage:
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Wi-Fi only for cloud details | Cloud scans only fetch filenames upfront. Track details (artist, album, cover, duration) are loaded in the background — about 256KB per song. With this on, loading pauses on cellular and resumes when you reconnect to Wi-Fi. |
| Notify when long tasks finish | Get notified when a scan, tag reading or metadata scrape you started finishes in the background. Problems that need you, like a failed scan or full iCloud storage, are reported either way. Nothing is sent while the app is open. |
Tag reading is gentle by default. If your device and server can handle more, turn on High-Performance Tag Reading: Off by default, tags are read gently in small serial batches. When enabled, foreground scans use up to 3 concurrent reads without throttling, which can increase heat, battery use, network traffic, and interface stutter.
Duplicate songs
Settings › Duplicate Songs: Grouped by title + artist + duration (±1s). The highest-quality version is recommended to keep. Duplicate cleanup removes redundant audio only; same-name lyrics/covers stay when a kept version still uses them.
- In each group, the version marked "Best" is the suggested one to keep.
- You can choose Keep Best, Keep Highest Bitrate, Keep Largest File or Keep Newest, or use Smart Keep (Remove All Redundant) to handle all groups at once.
- Primuse confirms the number of songs before cleaning up. Before you clean up, check whether original files in the source will be deleted.
Artist names
In Settings › Artist Names you can set Split Separators (splitting "A / B" into two artists), Protected Artist Names (names that contain a separator but shouldn't be split) and Display Separator.
Library categories and display
Settings › Library Display › Library Categories: Drag to reorder. Visibility and order apply to Library, the sidebar, and minimal mode tabs. You can also turn on Show Songs as a Flat List by Default.
