Viozi Engine
Settings → Playback → Playback Settings → Viozi Engine. On by default. MKV, MP4, TS and similar files play through the Viozi Engine with the system decoders: faster starts and seeking, Blu-ray picture subtitles and Picture Enhancement. Files it can't play fall back automatically. While playing, the Engine row in the info panel shows which method is in use.
Picture options
| Option | What it does | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Deinterlacing | Interlaced video such as DVDs and 1080i TV recordings is deinterlaced field by field on the GPU (50i plays as 50p) | When off, motion may show combing |
| Picture Enhancement | HDR tone mapping on non-HDR screens, debanding for 8-bit video and Lanczos scaling | Dolby Vision, and HDR on HDR screens, stay with the system; Picture in Picture is unavailable while it's on |
| Super Resolution | Low-resolution video such as DVD and 720p is enlarged with the system's machine-learning super resolution | Uses more power; pauses in Low Power Mode or when the device is hot |
| Frame Interpolation | Doubles the frame rate of SDR video up to 1080p | Skipped when the screen can't refresh at twice the video's frame rate; uses more power and pauses in Low Power Mode or when hot |
| Blu-ray Region | Disc menus use the region to decide whether and which version plays | On Automatic, the system region is used |
HDR, Dolby Vision and Atmos
- The Viozi Engine sends Dolby Vision and Atmos down the system's native path. The final result depends on the whole chain: device model and system version, whether the screen or TV supports it, the HDMI / AirPlay connection, and the receiver or headphones.
- Decoding is not the same as output. Being able to read an audio track doesn't mean your speakers receive an Atmos signal; if the TV, receiver or headphones don't support it, audio is converted to regular stereo or multichannel.
- On screens without HDR, HDR video is tone mapped (by Viozi when Picture Enhancement is on, otherwise by the system). Colors differing from an HDR screen is normal.
- Color and stability with different Dolby Vision profiles may vary by device. We don't promise fully correct color on every device. If you see wrong colors or a black screen after seeking, report it as described in Video won't play, stutters, goes black or shows wrong colors.
